GSC Announces 2018 Men's Tennis All-Conference Awards

Serdar Bojadjiev has been named GSC Player of the year. Valdosta State’s
Florian Simbozel has been named GSC Freshman of the year, and West Florida’s Derrick Racine is named GSC Coach of the Year.
Bojadjiev receives the league’s top all-conference honor this year after being named GSC Freshman of the Year last season. The sophomore finished the regular season 13-4 in singles, 6-4 in the number one spot and 7-0 in the number two spot. He currently ranks No. 8 in the country by the ITA, defeating two of the three nationally ranked opponents he faced. In No. 2 doubles, Bojadjiev finished the season 12-3 with partner Lucas Sanchez. The pair rank 14th in the nation.
Simbozel receives the 2018 GSC Freshman of the Year award, and First Team All-GSC recognition, after posting an impressive 11-3 record at No. 2 singles and ranking No. 26 in the nation. His sole conference loss in singles play came against Bojadjiev. Simbozel also finished the season 13-5 at No. 1 doubles, ranking No. 20 in the nation with partner Jordi Mas. The freshman's impressive season helped guide the Blazers to 11th in the country entering postseason play.
Derrick Racine receives his 12th GSC Men's Tennis Coach of the Year honor this year, leading the Argos to a 21-2 overall finish and a perfect 11-0 league record. West Florida is currently ranked No. 6 in the nation by the ITA after getting huge wins against No. 14 Rollins, No. 22 Auburn Montgomery, No. 6 Columbus State, and No. 12 Valdosta State this season. The Argos head into the GSC Championship on an 11-match winning streak and are looking to win the league title for the sixth time in seven seasons.
