INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – West Florida and Valdosta State qualified for the NCAA Division II Men’s Championship. The Argonauts won the first conference championship in program history and will be the number two seed in their first ever NCAA Tournament appearance. Valdosta State, the regular season league champions, are the fifth seed.
West Florida’s best year in program history will continue with its first bid to the NCAA Tournament. UWF rides a 10-game winning streak into regional play.
Darryl Tucker was named First Team All-GSC, while
Marvin Jones was named the Most Outstanding Player of the GSC Championship. The Argos will face Barry in round one.
The Blazers were dominant in the regular season, but will come into the tournament after dropping two of their final three games.
Beau Justice was named the GSC’s Player of the Year, while
KJ James was named all-conference. This is the seventh appearance in the national tournament for VSU as a member of the Gulf South Conference. Valdosta State will play Eckerd in the first round.
Play will begin on Saturday, March 10. The second round will be Sunday, March 11, and the regional championship game will be on Tuesday, March 13.
