2017 GSC FALL ACADEMIC HONOR ROLL
2017 GSC FALL ALL-ACADEMIC TEAMS

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Gulf South Conference is proud to announce the academic awards for the 2017 fall season.

There are 76 student-athletes on the GSC All-Academic Teams across the six fall sports: men’s cross country (8), women’s cross country (8), football (27), men’s soccer (14), women’s soccer (12) and volleyball (7).

Academic All-GSC Teams are selected by the Gulf South Conference Sports Information Directors (SIDs) and Faculty Athletic Representatives (FARs) in a joint vote. Nominees must have an overall grade point average (GPA) of 3.20 or better on a 4.00 scale for their entire academic career and may not be freshmen or first-semester or quarter transfers. The student-athlete must be a significant contributor to the squad. Other factors include leadership, community service and extra-curricular activities. SIDs and FARs are not allowed to vote for their own student-athletes. The number of student-athletes selected in each sport is determined by the number of positions normally involved in the playing of that sport. Ties are not broken.

There are three three-time honorees in the group: Lee's Seth Eagleson (men's cross country), North Alabama's Beatriz Fernandes (women's soccer), and Alabama Huntsville's Anna Claire Johnson (volleyball).

Additionally, 13 student-athletes are receiving the honor for the second time.

The GSC set a new record for student-athletes on the fall honor roll, as 980 student-athletes finished with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.00.

For the second straight year, Mississippi College had the most honorees.

The all-academic teams and the complete list of honor roll selections can be found at the top of the page.
