HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Bulldogs had the upper hand in the top of the first. Zach Wylie’s three-run home run gave Union an early 3-0 lead.
- But the Chargers scored seven runs on five hits to take the lead over the Bulldogs. Ben Rhodes plated the Chargers’ first run of the inning with an RBI double to left center. A.J. Walden followed with a two-RBI single, tying the game 3-3. Josh Giegling drew a bases loaded walk, and Walden scored to put the Chargers on top, 4-3. Jay Copeland scored the fifth run of the inning on a fielder’s choice, and Wes Anderson scored the sixth run on an error. Justin Ware drove in the final run of the inning with an RBI single.
- UAH took a 9-3 lead in the bottom of the second when Tanner Burns doubled to left center, scoring Ware and Giegling.
- Burns’ RBI single in the bottom of the fifth put the Chargers up 10-3.
- In the top of the ninth, Tyler Mauzy homered, cutting UAH’s lead, 10-4. Hayden Lewis followed with an RBI single to plate Union’s fifth run of the game, but was called out at second to cut short the Bulldogs’ comeback effort.

- The seven runs UAH scored in the bottom of the first are the most starting pitcher Marty Coursey has allowed all season.
- Union’s Tyler Mauzy recorded his 18
th multi-hit contest of the season to finish second on the team in multi-hit games.
- Zach Wylie recorded his fourth home run of the season and 10
th multi-RBI game for the Bulldogs.
- A.J. Walden recorded his 11
th multi-RBI game for the Chargers to finish the season as the team leader.
- UAH’s Jake Bracewell struck out a career-high eight batters.
- UAH has recorded 10 hits or more in its past 22 contests and scored 10 runs or more in the past 12 games.
