Lee takes opening round lead at GSC Championship

Round One
The Lee Lady Flames lead after round one at the Gulf South Conference Women’s Golf Championship on Sunday. Lee, led by sophomore Caroline Moore, shot 299 to put the Flames at 11 over par. Moore, atop a crowded leaderboard, knocked down four birdies and shot a low round 72 to stay at even par.
The Shorter Hawks also played a competitive round and are just two strokes off the lead after day one. Four Shorter golfers – Amanda Schwartz, Gracel Peris, Paula Oviedo and Dallas Vaughn – are in the top ten after the opening round.
Other notable round one performances include West Georgia’s Franziska Bremm, Lee’s Callie Kitchens and West Alabama’s Jessica Smyth who are all tied for second place at one over par.
There are ten golfers within three shots of the leader Moore.
The second round will begin Monday with the first group teeing off at 8:00 am.
