Clinton, Miss. – The West Alabama Tigers claimed their third-consecutive Gulf South Conference men’s soccer championship with a shootout victory over West Florida at Longabaugh Field Sunday.

KEY MOMENT
West Alabama grabbed a 1-0 lead in the 26th minute when Stephen Carroll cleaned up a loose ball following a Liam Ireland shot that was saved but not controlled by UWF goalkeeper Phil D’Amico … UWF tied the game in the 71st minute on a Marteinn Urbancic header off a throw in through the box.
 
NOTABLE
Both teams had five shots in the opening 45 minutes but the Tigers put four of theirs on goal compared to just one for the Argonauts … UWA outshot UWF 10-7 in the second half and 5-1 in the overtime periods.
