GSC to introduce 'Friday Features' this fall
Birmingham, Ala. - The Gulf South Conference is excited to announce the addition of new content on gscsports.org, beginning on Friday, November 8, with a new series dubbed, "Friday Features".
The goal will be to tell compelling human interest stories about the student-athletes competing in the nation’s best Division II conference.
To accomplish this, we have contracted with two veteran newspaper writers to deliver this content, Maurice Patton and Mike Perrin. They will be alternating Friday’s providing the content. Each has been assigned a “beat” with Maurice covering Florida, Mississippi and Tennessee while Mike handles Alabama and Georgia.
Patton (@mopatton_sports) Patton covered professional, collegiate and high school sports over a 24-year career at The (Nashville) Tennessean and currently freelances in the Nashville area at those levels while blogging particularly on Middle Tennessee high school sports. A Franklin, Tenn., resident, Patton is an executive board member of the Tennessee Sports Writers Association.
Perrin (@mikeperrin27) is a long-time observer and reporter on the Gulf South Conference, most recently at The Birmingham news where he reported on all Alabama GSC teams. He has won multiple Alabama Sports Writers Association awards during his Birmingham News career and also worked at Alabama newspapers in Andalusia, Jasper, Montgomery and Decatur.
In this era of consuming news through a variety of digital methods, the Gulf South Conference should be its own best news organization. GSCSports.org should be a destination our constituents regularly visit for GSC news.
We are excited about this new content and hope that our fans and communities embrace the new stories.
